WILLISTON, N.D. – The U.S. Postal Service will open a new facility on the north side of Williston late this spring.
The 5,880-square-foot facility known as the Badlands Station will be located in the Badlands Town Center at 4315 9th Ave. W., Unit 411. It will feature P.O. boxes, full retail window, a self-service kiosk and other services.
Residents of rapidly growing Bakken communities have complained about slow mail delivery and long lines at the post office.
“This announcement of a brand new postal facility in the oil field region is yet another example of the hard work we’re putting forth to ensure our customers are well served,” acting Dakotas District Manager Jim Herrmann said in a statement.
Since the summer of 2013, the Postal Service has launched several initiatives for western North Dakota, including establishing consumer advisory councils in several cities, installing more P.O. boxes, adding more delivery points and parcel pick-up lockers. The Postal Service also has established a contract postal unit at a Watford City grocery store and a Village Post Office in Tioga.
