WILLISTON, N.D. – Organizers are calling on oil companies, Williston residents and other volunteers to participate in one more massive cleanup day before winter.

A Keep Williston Clean event will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Organizer Dan Manjack said he anticipates as many as 500 people will participate.

“It’s time,” said Manjack, a general contractor who moved to Williston from Florida. “Trash is piling up and we wanted to get one more in before the winter.”

Volunteers should meet at the Upper Missouri District Health Unit’s parking lot at 110 W. Broadway in downtown Williston. They will work on downtown streets, parks and other adjacent areas.

Several oil companies have already committed to volunteer and those employees will be cleaning designated areas. Response from the oil companies has been strong, Manjack said.

“All the big ones are in,” he said.

Target Logistics will be serving chili for volunteers at noon at Recreation Park in downtown Williston.

Last May, hundreds from the oil and gas industry and other volunteers participated in the first Keep Williston Clean events.

“It had a huge impact,” Manjack said.
